rise of the white flame

The rise of the White Flame began as an ember buried in forgotten lore, igniting into a blazing inferno fueled by the Boron Empire's corruption. The cult members of the White Flame were once scattered and existed only in the shadows of society for generations. They were deemed dangerous but manageable and were culled by forces around the world. The true rise came under the influence of ancient creatures and the unification of the cult into the invader it is today.

Any of the remaining early texts of Moria speak of the corruptors, destroyers, and monsters that wield white fire and seek to conquer all. All other texts were destroyed. Historians struggle to learn about the early ages of Moria for this reason. What has been discovered suggests that the White Flame once existed across the world in small, scattered factions. As the nations we know today formed, these groups gradually diminished and disappeared.

For centuries, their presence remained minimal until 1387 AO, when a number of minor political protests broke out across the Boron Empire. The inner politics of the Boron Empire were extensive and exhausting, and the White Flame exploited this by securing many key positions within the empire. On the local level, they held numerous small political rallies and protests over various issues. It was then that fire fell from the sky. Firsthand reports describe giant balls of white fire falling upon cities, killing hundreds, whose bodies then rose to attack any survivors. This was the first step in the Ashening of the Boron Empire. The skies turned grey with ash, then black, as the undead and flames rapidly spread across the land. Everything that could not escape in time died. "A few scattered battles occurred, but only the zombie husks of the soldiers remain.

Once the conflict reached a stalemate and a true fight could be mounted against the White Flame, the cult turned its attention westward. Around 1390 AO, Winhall was in the reconstruction phase after repelling the Fiendish Invasion and became an easy target for the White Flame to launch a new assault. Starting on the eastern coast, the White Flame began burning much of Eastern Winhall in a manner similar to the Boron Empire. However, they were quickly stopped by the Blood Hunters, once considered blood sucking monsters, now hailed as the saviors of Winhall.

Now, across both the Eastern and Western continents, the warfronts against the White Flame remain at a stalemate. Each front is marked by the ash that fills the sky. Clerics of many religions attempt to cleanse the lands, while the White Flame continues to corrupt them. The battles are fought by hardened warriors against seemingly endless hordes of undead creatures. And so the wars grind on, with no end in sight.
